I say that because I just saw a show recently, where he had an expert actually saying stuff against stevia. I was shocked because they always advocate it. I believe just like any other product, they need to be made aware of of what is going on. Like he used to say agave was a good subsitutue for sugar then they had a show where they found out diffrent. I believe if enough people speak up, they might look into the possibility.

I started with Stevia Sweetleaf sweet drops in my coffee and tea. After 4 days my knee started to swell. It gradually got worse and after 9 days I became very concerned. The only thing that changed in my life during this time was the use of Stevia, so I took a gamble and searched swelling and Stevia and found this site. After reading the comments, I stopped using Stevia and the swelling disappeared after about a week. A couple days after I stopped using Stevia, I also got a weird pain in the groin, which also subsided after a couple days.
Good thing I realized the connection between Stevia and the swelling or else I would have been running around to various doctors and getting multiple tests to try and figure out the cause of the swelling.

Oh my goodness! I thank-you all for posting here! I hope this is the answer to my prayers! I have been using stevia off and on for 10 years, never have I thought stevia would be a problem! Throughout this time I've been suffering from random intense foot pains/heel pains, so bad at times I've had to take weeks off work because I literally couldn't walk. Any pressure on the ball of my foot = excruciating. I've been to doctors all the time for it, they all say it's tendinitis and just to ice and rest it. I always found it strange that I could randomly just get tendinitis from doing what seems like nothing?? I think "Why am I getting tendinitis even doing simple exercises like walking?!" I guess I just decided it must be because I'm a bit overweight and out of shape (which sucks! I want to stay active but some days I just can't due to this insane pain!) Now the last few years I have started suffering from even worse mid back pain and overall worse stiffness/inflammation, (more than usual) and wonder if stevia could been the cause after all this time?? (Ive had sore back problems all these years, thinking it's just my work) I went to the doctor and they did X-rays, showing a little bit of arthritis but not enough to be causing much pain they say. I'm only 35 and some days (most days) I feel like I'm 90?! I am also, for the most part following a clean plant organic based diet and wondering how and why the heck do I have all this inflammation? Then today I noticed my back suddenly feel even worse than normal after consuming a larger amount of stevia than usual! It never occurred to me until this moment and it prompt me to do a google search for "stevia arthritis" and here I find this website. After reading all this, I believe stevia may just be aggervating areas that are arthritic/ my cause of inflammation. Over the years, I've also noticed weird body pangs, sometimes hand numbness and various other strange things, now I'm very curious to know if it's all related to stevia. As a side note, my boyfriend also uses stevia and has been suffering from chronic sinititus, around the same time we started using stevia. We didn't know steiva is part of the ragweed family, once I read that to him, it dawned on him he remembers having crazy allergic reaction to ragweed when he was young! He recently has also been having ball of foot problem off and on, and pain in the tendon between his thumb and wrist. Thanks to all you wonderful people, we are going to cut it out of our diet completely in hopes that it helps us both! I'll keep you updated.

Day one being off stevia. Usually by the end of my work shift im quite debilitated! Today I don't have the that level of pain. Still pain though. I did however brush my teeth with natural toothpaste this morning and it dawned on me I better check the ingredients, sure enough; stevia in that too! Tossing that out for now! Hoping this gets better with each passing day! Boyfriends sinuses are also feeling more clearer than usual! Typically by the end of a Saturday he feels much worse. He used to use stevia all day in his teas! Fingers crossed we both finally start healing!

I know this is way late but wanted to reply for others as reassurance. Yes, stevia is the cause because I started developing pain like arthritis in my fingers. I stopped and it went away.Well, eventually I try stevia again (yes, organic) and I'm developing pain in my feet like arthritis. ...I have to walk flat footed and can't arch up. So I cont. the stevia thinking it will go away when I stop (hey I needed something). Well....I'm on month free and still have pain. I did start manipulating the feet (flexing) and there edging toward better. That stuff is not so healthy! I just use milk now in place of it.

After more than 20 years of using stevia, I found myself crippled up and in excruciating pain. My joints felt like they were on fire. I could barely walk, dress myself or even do my hair. My doc put me on prednisone and sent me to specialist (rheumatologist). While waiting for the specialist, I ended up in the ER barely able to move. Something was seriously wrong. Two doctors and two more different specialists decided I had polymyalgia rheumatica. (PMR) and gave me more prednisone. I had a suspicion about stevia from past research and I asked all the docs about it. The answer they gave: impossible. I decided to experiment on myself. It took 2 months to get it out of my system and another 10 months to get off the pred. We all wanted it not to be stevia, but it is! Thank you to all who took the time to post. You saved my life. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year 2018.

Hi,

I am so happy you took your time to investigate for yourself. Dr.s do not know everything, I am now more aware of what I put in my body as far as food and supplements. Anytime I feel joint pain then I know it’s something I am putting in my mouth. This has taught me a big lesson. I am starting a new healthy drug free, additive free life. If my body doesn’t feel right, I go back and start over. Happy New Year everyone.

I am a seasoned woman and feel 18 with eliminating grain for no pain and for me no meat or dairy. I eat a lot of the colors of the rainbow in fruits and veggies.
