what foods cause your stomach to bloat? I have heard that salt does, because of water retention, and things like cabbage and brocolli because they are more gassy, but how true is it that eating a lot of raw vegies bloats you? I find that hard to accept (I live for/on salads)

Yep, raw veggies can cause bloating. Depending on your digestive system's reaction to the vegetables. This bloat in is different than the water retention that you get from sodium. It actually is contained in the abdomen and gastric region.

The bloated feeling is either Gas or Air. the air comes from swallowing air while you eat, chewing to fast and gulping air when you eat raw veggies, etc. A cure for this is often just eating slower.

The more common reasons are gas or the reaction that your body has to the fiber in raw vegetables. Our bodies take much longer to digest fiber. often the digestive process causes a release of gas or even the air that is in the veggies themselves.

Try digestive enzymes and over the counter remedies like "Beano" etc.

I guess its kind of natures joke on people who are eating raw veggies simply to stay or get thin
