I like exercising on my own, either with a dvd or I make it up as I go. I can fit it into my day easily (or not easily, but with more flexibility than if I had workout partners or was taking classes) the only problem is the lack of the double commitment.

Once you commit yourself to something, or at least once I commit myself to something, I hardly ever try to get out of it. I may want to get out of it desperately, but I respect my commitment, especially if it involves other people, and I stick to the original plan.

The exact reasons I like to exercise alone (the flexibility of fitting it into my day) are the exact same reasons that sometimes I don’t get to exercise - I can find myself prioritizing the rest of my life higher than exercising, and ending up reaching midnight completely exhausted, without having worked out.

I know for a fact, that the one strong point excersing with a partner would have for me is the comitment factor. Maybe something to consider.

Pamela from My Body My blog has join a weight watchers running/walking group, and is completely happy to be getting the group support for exercising.

You can feel her excitement in the way she writes about the first meet of the group, and I have to say, once again, I am slightly jealous of her and all the other social and friendly people out there, who do not have such a strong need to stick to the wall and to solitary. Sometimes its helpful.

What do you prefer - solitary or companionship?
