Loosing and maintaining weight is all about making up your mind and sticking to your guns. The only way to do that, in my humble opinion is to believe in your ability to stick with it.
Funnily enough, that is exactly the place where many people stumble time and time again. We start with gusto imagining ourselves in our minds eye the picture of perfection, and when it is not believable to us or doesn’t happen in two minutes flat, we have nothing to carry us over and keep us going, and instead of our dream or goal getting closer to us as time passes, it becomes even more elusive.
Losing weight is not just about controlling your diet and exercise, but mostly about a good positive and possible mind set. Pamela from My Body My Blog has a good handle on how to do “Positive thinking” in such a way that makes it Possible as well as positive.
I’m consciously deciding not to focus on some fuzzy future in which I can wear size 10 clothes and do a triathlon. When I start thinking about stuff like that, I inevitably get discouraged by the distance between that future and today’s reality. But the idea that I love broccoli (true, by the way!) is an easy and good one to keep in mind. The idea that this is a process - “every day, in every way, it’s getting better and better” - is a useful one, too.
