Sly And The Family Stone used to sing a song called “Everyday People” back in the ’70s.
The first verse says it all.
Sometimes I’m right then I can be wrong
My own beliefs are in my songs
A butcher, a banker, a drummer and then
Makes no difference what group I’m in
I am everyday people
I often think about how different we all are. How hard it can be sometimes in the struggle to make this thing called life work. No matter who we are and no matter what out current situation we’ve got to remember that we are”Everyday People” and resolve to keep livin’. Resolve to keep on keepin’ on until we reach our destination.
I started thinking about this because I often have a client or two that struggles and even breaks down emotionally when it’s been particularly difficult to reach a new milestone. I have to remind them when it seems like they are just not seeing the results that they want (Most people want it yesterday. STAY OFF THE SCALE!), We are ALL different, ALL human and we ALL struggle from time to time.
It’s not so much about whether or not we struggle, stumble and fall but more about how long it takes to get back up. AND what we do once we are standing. What do you believe about yourself? How are you going to CHOOSE to shape your destiny?
The number one problem (in my opinion) that we all face in reaching our fitness and healthy lifestyle goals is consistency (or the lack thereof). BE CONSISTENT. So you fell off the wagon… Hurry up and jump back on before it gets too far down the road!
Besides, if your still planning on accomplishing that one thing, wouldn’t it be easier to get back “on the wagon” than to walk. lol
Hope that helps someone today! Happy Valentine’s Day if I don’t see you or hear from you tommorow.
PEACE,
Coach Scott
