OT:Where were you 40 years ago today?

Sure I remember. I was in school. The principal came in, and she'd been crying. She told us Kennedy had been shot and to go home. Just like that: 'go home.'

We were all in shock. I also remember that for day after day after day there was nothing on TV but JFK

i was in my biology class and my girlfriend and i were listening to a small transistor radio in the back of the room, when the news interrupted the song that was playing.

yes, i watched tv as much as i could, and then when they were transferring oswald to a different jail, ruby jumped in and shot him, right there in front of the world! what an awful time that was!

that was not unusual for the time...........they either LOVED jackie and the whole CAMELOT thing or didn't! it always sounded like a lot of jealousy to me.

Home for lunch with my wife and baby. It came on the radio and I called my office and told them to turn on the radio because the president had been shot.

My dipstick secretary said, 'Bob, that's not funny.' I finally convinced her to turn on the radio.

I went back to the office, called the printer who was about to run the magazine I was editor of and told him to hold it. I wrote an 8-page article which I delivered to him the next morning. It was the longest editorial I've ever written. And the fastest.

My wife was from Cape Cod and she and her mother were Kennedy neighbors. We'd visited with them that summer and even got into a touch football game on one occasion.

We cried a lot over the next few days. I can still remember that kitchen and the spackle patch in the ceiling I did a day or two before. The baby was eating strained peaches. Her baby is now in culinary school. There's a hospital where that house was.
