I was on the hcg diet using drops, lost 15 pounds in 16 days then cheated (unfortunately due to sugar cravings). When can I go back on it honestly this next time?
Start back whenever you want
I am new to this and nervous about it all. You said you lost 16 lbs then cheated... did you gain all 16 pounds back because you cheated or just a few pounds. I am reading everywhere that cheating while on the drops is disasterous... why? and how bad??
Yes its true. Cheating while on HCG runs a high risk of putting on more weight than normal. One reason is that you because you are confusing your body, it begins to hold onto whatever extra fat you give it because it doesnt know when its going to get more. it also begins to retain water. This is a self protection your body does naturally.
Also, the longer you have been off carbs and sugar the harder it is to quit after just one cheat. Its as if it sets off a trigger in your brain and off you go unable to have any self control whatsoever.
Now everyone is different. Id say its about 50-50 chance that once someone cheats that they then are still able to continue without cheating again.
You have to tell yourself. "I can do anything for 30 days, Im worth it",
So Misty... is your body gaining weight simply because you are eating high cal/fat **** food and you are not burning/using it (and your body would gain weight no matter what) or is it just because you have the hcg in your system and it will gain just becasue you ate one cookie?? Can one cookie or tsste of icecream make you gain 4 pounds overnight?? I'd don't understand the science of this... and what happens if you start this diet and you get into it 5 days and decide it is not right for you... will that hcg in your system completely mess you up? Thanks for your help and answers.... curious, confused, and a tad nervous.
Its not necessarily 4 pounds overnight.
The simplelest way to describe it is this way. When you take in only 500 calories, the job of HCG is to go to your fat reserves and kick into circulation the say 1000ish additional calories your body is requiring to function for that day. NOW when someone cheats and takes in say an additional 800 calories your body has now taken in 2200 calories. Top that off with the fact that your not exercising. That in itself can add some weight. NOW here is another fly in the soup, your body begins to retain fats and water BECAUSE your body has become unreliable. You need to remember you are purposely putting your body into starvation mode. But instead of it harming you, the HCG you are taking directs your body to use your stored fat forr what it needs and this is how you lose the old stored fat.
BUT when your body goes into starvation mode and then gets some EXTRA fats it holds onto them "just in case".
This method of weight loss works. I stand by it 100%. BUT, if you go into it afraid you might find you dont have the mindset to make it all the way through. I just want to tell you that its OK to NOT do HCG.
HCG is not for everyone. this is not a diet that works for cheaters. A low calorie diet partnered with exercise is still one of the most effective ways to reduce your weight and be healthy.
If you cant wrap your mind around HCG dont do it.
Misty, I just have to thank you -- I stumbled across this thread because I, too, have disastrously cheated on my HCG program, and am trying not to beat myself up over it... but the expense of the program, and my throwing it down the drain, well I'm desperate to get back on track.
And your quote "I can do anything for 30 days, Im worth it"... well, it is going to become my new mantra!!!!!
Hey Misty, i was on homeopatheic hcg drops for just one day, and on day 2 my period started and i stopped taking the drops and came off the diet. I want to start again, once my period finishes. Can i skip the loading phase?
Once you stop you should always do the loading phase over again. From my understanding though, you should not stop the drops on your period. I believe this is just for those on injections who should stop. I have not stopped the drops while on my period and had weight loss.
