What 100 Cals Looks Like

One of the problems about being “on a diet” is the obsession it can entail, and the constant need to check your calorie count every time you eat.

Personally I can’t stand calorie counting and would rather weight or measure than start working out calories.

I have over time learned to eyeball the correct quantity of food for me to consume.

I was not sure whether to categorise the following video as obsessive or helpful, but then I thought that the latter would be a better choice of words to describe it.

Once seen never forgotten. (Maybe yes maybe know, but it does give you a good visualization of what foods to stay away from :-)

Overweight And Undernourished

I am not a big one for figures and statistics, and as a whole, usually think that statistics mean very little on the bottom line but not in this case.
I read a very interesting post on the Spartan Diet, that also backed up what it was saying with some very interesting, astounding, in fact, figures.

1/3 of adult Americans are technically obese. Another 1/3 are just over weight. Meaning that 2/3 of all American adults are over weight.
Just to make that more visual. if you have a room with 6 adults, only 2 of those adults are of normal healthy weight.
Even worse that that - most of these over weight people are also malnourished.
Eating a lot of food with very few nurtients will cause this to happen.
Another thing that this kind of eating will promote is very severe hunger pains - due to the bodies craving for nutrition… which of course are quietened momentarily with more low quality foods.

Stress

If you are reading this, than probably you are over weight and picsone of the many people (including myself) that are fighting with that issue.
We all know that food is the direct cause for over weight but eating for most of us has very little to do with food and sustenance.

We eat for many reasons and in many situations, and even if we eat healthy foods, we my eat way to much of them, using food as a source of comfort, a tool to kill boredom and as a depressurise - helping us to deal with all the stress in our lives.
Most of us are unhappy with the way we look, which is one of the reasons we want to loose weight, but this unhappiness leads to self critisism, self judment and self loathing.
Its kind of stressful to be someone you loath, and it is certainly difficult loosing weight if you have no self esteem - because loosing weight takes a lot of motivation and faith in one self - and faith in ones self cannot exists along side of self loathing.
You need to be able to accept yourself, non judgmentaly, in order to make progress.
This is a great article about size and self acceptance, that is really worth the read.
