I'm in phase 2 of the hcg protocol and am encountering some bad breath. What is causing this ? What works to cove this up that is allowed on the protocol ? Most things have artificial sweeteners, which I don't do, or sugar, which is not allowed. Help!

My roomie has been so kind to point out that I have dragon breath all the time since starting this. I am not sure why it happens but I think it is the detoxification process your body is going through. I have controlled it pretty well with my herbal mint tea. It is allowed and tastes great. Also lemon water helps. How is this working for you?

I totally agree with Rosie. I have never been told I had bad breath on HCG But that doesnt mean I didnt have it.

Thanks rosie77
I'll definitely try those suggestions. Using the homeopathic drops I'm on day 25 and have lost 18.6 lbs.
Since I plan to keep going till I reach my goal of 75lb. loss, any suggestions would be welcome.

I realize now that the breath is from ketones being released by the fat breakdown (ketosis breath). That might be why drinking extra water may help.

Wow, that is a great reason why. I found towards the end of my round it was less and less offensive. Congratulations on your progress thus far. Keep it up !!

Yes!

You are absolutely right about the reason for the bad breath is a symptom of ketosis. It doesnt happen to everybody but it is VERY common.

I started carrying a small plastic shot glass size container in my purse filled with anise seeds. When my family says they notice my breath I pour a small amount of it into my palm and toss it into my mouth and start chewing. It makes the breath sweet and tastes a little like licorice. The Indian food restaurants serve it after meals in a little dish, it's supposed to aid digestion. My family says it helps.

Parsley is great. Anise is even better because it reduces appetite. I like chewing cinnamon sticks because it lowers my oral crave and it tastes sweet tho there's no sugar in it.

I chew anise or coriander seeds, and then swallow. Also have used "Fresh Breath" spray by Gaia Herbs successfully.

I realized another possible reason for bad breath. When you lose fat the toxins in the fat cells are being released into your bloodstream. That would explain why I have bad breath and not my son. I'm releasing more toxins because I'm older and he hasn't had as much time to accumulate as much toxins as I.
